Maine Update

Some of you are aware that, over much of the last year, my husband and I have been (well, actually, the architect and the builder have been) transforming a tiny cottage by a tidal pond on Mount Desert Island in Maine. When shown a picture of the house when we bought it, a dear friend commented that it looked like "a really big outhouse." She was right. No more.
We are just back from our first week there and are thrilled. It is tiny, but bright and airy and comfortable, and we smell salt air and pine from the moment we leave the car. We watch the tides, see seals and deer and fox and loons and heron and many other sea and land birds, and restore our own health and sanity. What a blessing.
