Any of you who are faithful readers of his blog know that I am a very big fan of the National Breast Cancer Coalition. As someone recently described it to me, NBCC is "the thinking woman's breast cancer organization." Here is an update of some of their current activities and links to read more:

NBCC Is Changing the Conversation Nationally
NBCC Brings Breast Cancer Deadline 2020® Message to Public Debate NBCC President Fran Visco told members of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, during testimony before the Subcommittee on June 22, that the American public can truly be proud of its investment in the DOD BCRP. "Scientific achievements that are the direct result of the DOD BCRP grants are undoubtedly moving us closer to eradicating breast cancer," Visco said. She further added "The National Breast Cancer Coalition is strongly committed to the Department of Defense peer reviewed Breast Cancer Research Program (DOD BCRP) in every aspect, as we truly believe it is one of our best chances for reaching Breast Cancer Deadline 2020®'s goal of ending the disease by the end of the decade." Read full Article Watch the Testimony * * * * * In a hearing before the FDA on Avastin®, NBCC's Vice President Christine Brunswick applauded the FDA for responding to scientific evidence in the face of significant political and public pressure. "The FDA's decision [to remove the breast cancer indication from the Avastin label] further emphasizes the urgency of NBCC's Breast Cancer Deadline 2020®, which raises the bar as it aims to harness and refocus breast cancer resources toward ending this disease by January 1, 2020.
