Living with Lymphedema

This is a companion piece to the previous one. Also an email, from another woman in my post treatment group. As you will read, she has had lymphedema for years and has found ways to manage and live with it:
Having been through lymphedema I know what a pain it can be. For 4 years I struggled with bandages etc. If I have swelling after intense activity I do some gentle lymphatic massage and that seems to work. I don't wear my sleeves except on long flights. It now has been about 7-8 years since I had problems with it. I do everything I used to including carrying heavy bags etc. I try to be conscious about things but I have to live. I do go in hot tubs, work in garden without gloves get sun burns on my arms and massages. (deep tissue is specific form of massage that goes much deeper than regular massages). so I don't do that but the other is lovely.
BC takes so much. Finding balance between risk and reward and making decisions that work for you. I take risks but so far I am glad I do.
