Complementary Therapies: Free Teleconfer

Posted 4/19/2011

This looks like a particularly interesting free teleconference from our friends at Living Beyond Breast Cancer (www.lbbc.org). I have known many women who used complementary medicine to help with chemotherapy side effects. The most frequently used, in my experience, is acupuncture with many women finding it very helpful for the relief of nausea and fatigue. As you know, there is always a concern about anything that you ingest (herbs, pills, etc), so do speak with your doctor before embarking on that kind of program. Often the advice will be to wait until chemo is done and then feel free to take whatever you want.

Here is the information re the teleconference:

Complementary Medicine: Managing Side Effects

Register now for our free teleconference, Complementary Medicine: Managing Side Effects, on Tuesday, May 3, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. Learn more.

Barrie R. Cassileth, MS, PhD will discuss the benefits of integrative medicine for breast cancer care and how you can safely implement these techniques in your life. During this teleconference, you will:

  • Understand the role of complementary medicine in your treatment
  • Learn to safely manage side effects using proven methods such as herbs, yoga, acupuncture and mind-body therapies
  • Explore how research is analyzed, areas where more research is needed, and how to understand information presented by the media
