Study on Neuropathic Pain

The management of neuropathic (nerve) pain can be a challenging issue. This comes up too frequently for women who are being treated for breast cancer. Most often, it is a problem after breast surgery, especially after mastectomy with or without reconstruction. Some women who have had a lumpectomy also have lingering pain, especially as nerves begin to heal.
Neuropathy can also be a problem related to chemotherapy, especially in our context for women who have received Taxol or Taxotere. I received this flyer yesterday about an NIH-sponsored study to examine the value of web-based self care. Since there are few good solutions to this problem other then medications, I am passing this along. If you are interested in participating, you can directly contact the study director.
