New Networking Site
I have long been a major fan of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and now have a new reason to speak highly of their efforts. Since I am blissfully on a Nile cruise, my internet connection is a bit dicey, and I have been unable to copy more information about this. However, if you go to: [firstname.lastname@example.org],
you will find directions to register for their new social networking site. I think it is always helpful to find ways to connect to/support each other, and this looks like a good one. You will also see other interesting links and information on their larger home site.
Did you know that, next to the Federal government, Komen funds more breast cancer research than anyone else? They give both to bench (scientific) research and to community support projects. I am personally endebted to them as they selected me (along with Patricia Ganz, MD from UCLA) to be the first Hatcher Survivorship Professors about ten years ago. This appointment gave me the opportunity to meet many wonderful women and supported my time to write my book: After Breast Cancer: A Commonsense Guide to Life after Treatment.
Although I am skeptical (as those of you who are regular readers know) of the over-used "Pink Campaign" of October, I have nothing but respect and gratitude for Komen. Check them out.
