Managing Costs

It is expensive to have cancer. Even if you have excellent insurance, the out of pocket medical expenses, perhaps missed work time and a lower salary, disability payments instead of salary (almost always less), and all the smaller things like parking at the hospital, additional childcare, more take-out food--it all adds up. I will write another blog about this issue with some specific suggestions about a range of organizations that may be helpful, but I want now to draw your attention to a useful publication.

ASCO (American Society of Clinical Oncology) had a great website for patients called CancerNet. It is worth exploring. I was just reminded of their booklet about "Managing Cancer Costs." Click here to see it.
