Join Living Beyond Breast Cancer for our next free teleconference, Hormonal Therapy Update: Understanding Your Options, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) on Tuesday, August 25.

Ruth Oratz, MD, FACP, of the Women's Oncology and Wellness Practice, will discuss the various types of hormonal therapies, including:

  • How they are used in treatment for early and advanced breast cancer
  • Updates on the latest research
  • The importance of taking your medicine as prescribed
  • The importance of communicating with your healthcare team to manage side effects

About Our Speaker

Dr. Oratz is a board certified medical oncologist who specializes in treating women with breast cancer at The Women's Oncology and Wellness Practice, her practice in New York City. She is clinical associate professor of medicine at the New York University School of Medicine and is a fellow of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Oratz has participated in clinical and translational research for more than 20 years and is widely published. She has lectured both locally and nationally and appeared on television and radio segments. Dr. Oratz is chair of the medical advisory board for Susan G. Komen for the Cure's New York Affiliate and is also on the medical advisory boards for Living Beyond Breast Cancer, breastcancer.org, Cancer and Careers, Sharsheret and The New York City Metastatic Breast Cancer Network. Dr. Oratz also serves as a medical consultant to CancerCare.

About the Program

Our speaker will give a brief presentation, followed by a question-and-answer period. To participate, you need only a telephone or computer (listen-only) with Real Network Player or Windows Media Player. Social workers may be eligible to receive continuing education credits; see our registration form for more details.

Starting this month, a slideshow presentation will be available online during the program. You will also have the opportunity to submit questions for the question-and-answer session online. Those who listen over the phone can access the slideshow and MP3 recording on lbbc.org after the teleconference.
