Reaching Out and New Initiative

I met this morning with a lovely woman who is living with Stage IV breast cancer. She told me that she is a frequent reader of these blogs, and I have been (gratefully) thinking about her comments and possible ways to make this effort more valuable to more of you. I often feel that I spend time daily thinking and writing and then send something out into the universe....with no idea where it lands or whether anyone ever sees it.

Obviously, I try to include a range of topics and information. When I read an article that I think is especially good or hear of a conference/teleconference opportunity or learn of an interesting study, I share it. Sometimes I write about a psychosocial topic and sometimes, like today, I wing it as I type.

As some of you know, we have been trying for months to establish a 24/7 online support group. There are many complicated reasons why this has not happened, and it likely will be a while before it can appear. In the meantime, however, we are about to announce a new intiative: an "Ask Hester" feature. I don't know exactly what this will look like, but I promise there will be an easy way to ask any questions or raise any topics, and I will answer, and the questions/answers will remain posted online and gradually become a useful trove of information. This should be ready within the next few days or week, and I will share the details here.

It would also be great if some of you could write comments after reading a particular blog. Even if you just write "This was helpful" or "This was completely irrelevant to me", that would be useful information. It would be even better if you wrote something like: "Since I worry about chemobrain, your recent blogs have been reassuring and informative. I would love to hear about other women's experiences with this problem." That is, give me some feedback and make some suggestions about what you like to read.

Thank you! And, to leave a comment, click on the number next to the word "Comments"
