Transforming Medical Care Through Translational Research

BIDMC is home to a preeminent academic research program where scientific discoveries are helping to transform medical care.  Basic research to study fundamental life processes at the molecular level routinely informs clinic research.  In turn, the findings gained through clinical trials help to take laboratory investigations in new directions.  BIDMC's research program is truly translational.

The Forefront of "Bench to Bedside" Research

A prodigious and internationally respected enterprise, the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center fosters relationships among laboratory researchers and between basic science investigators and clinicians, accelerating work both in the labs and in the novel therapies we are able to bring to the bedside.

Amid a scientific climate in which revolutionary advances are occurring at an amazing pace - from the sequencing of the human genome to breakthrough discoveries in the molecular bases of common diseases and the creation of an almost unlimited number of sophisticated new technologies - BIDMC has successfully positioned itself to take full advantage of these opportunities.

Our extraordinary faculty has established a culture that is both entrepreneurial and collaborative, oriented toward translating new knowledge into novel medical treatments and patient care.

BIDMC Research at a Glance
