Financial Support
Residents are supported in their pursuit of a broad range of unique clinical, research, teaching, and service opportunities. To support these endeavors, the Department of Medicine provides funding for the international work of up to six medical residents.
Program Objectives
- Introduce international healthcare issues to BIDMC medical residents
- Create a more global vision of healthcare, while improving the health status, knowledge and self-reliance of underdeveloped regions
- Offer an opportunity to enrich the medical knowledge and enhance the clinical skills of residents by practicing in unique settings with limited resources
- Expand research opportunities
- Advance international health, research and public policy careers of BIDMC residents
Hospital-wide Program Linking Residents to Global Opportunities
The BIDMC Global Health Program is a hospital-wide program available to all BIDMC residents. While requirements and timelines may differ between departments and specialties, the overarching goal is to provide residents with further training and education in the discipline of global health.
