New Spider Vein Treatment
Spider Veins Disappear with New Veinwave Treatment
The CardioVascular Institute at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center has become first in the Boston area to offer Veinwave, a new method for quickly and painlessly eliminating spider veins and red vascular blemishes from the nose, cheeks, legs and elsewhere.
The procedure uses a desk-top electrical device with an ultra-fine, insulated, nickel probe. Your physician applies the needle directly to the skin along the length of the vein, without piercing the blood vessel. The sensation caused by the needle has been compared to a pin prick or momentary stinging at most. Spider veins and vascular blemishes disappear immediately and recovery is instant. Minor crusting may appear on the treatment site a few days later.
Unlike traditional injection sclerotherapy, the results are immediate and do not require compression stockings or ace wraps.
The Food and Drug Administration recently approved the procedure for use in the United States after its successful, long-term use in Europe.
Our board-certified vascular surgeons and nurse practitioner now offer the service in our accredited Vascular Laboratory in the Lowry Medical Office Building at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
