Varicose Vein Care

Varicose veins may be more than a cosmetic issue. They can cause significant pain, numbness and swelling. Learn about your treatment options from expert vascular surgeons at the CardioVascular Institute (CVI) . To schedule an appointment, call 617-632-9959.

New Treatment Options for Spider and Varicose Veins

Spider veins can be erased instantly-with no recovery time-during quick outpatient appointments using a new machine that's the size of a suitcase. The CVI has become the first medical group in Boston to offer Veinwave™ technology since its approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. This thermo-coagulation technique is effective for eliminating red vascular blemishes and thread-like veins from the legs, arms, face and other parts of the body.

Varicose veins can now be removed using a new minimally invasive treatment called the venous closure procedure, which uses radiofrequency energy to collapse the walls of bulging veins.

Both of these non-surgical procedures, which may be covered by insurance for some patients, can be completed with the following benefits:

  1. Performed in the doctor's office
  2. Less pain
  3. No scarring
