About Us
Under the direction of Jennifer Tseng, MD, MPH, the Division of Surgical Oncology offers a complete range of surgical services for patients with cancers of the pancreas, hepatobiliary system, breast, endocrine system, skin (including melanoma), and soft tissues.
In addition to providing comprehensive, state-of-the-art patient care through the BIDMC Cancer Center, the division also conducts basic and clinical/translational research focused on better understanding cancer and finding innovative, new, more effective ways to treat patients.
The Division of Surgical Oncology provides all levels of treatment for cancer patients. Areas of special expertise include:
- Endocrine surgery, including thyroidectomy, parathyroidectomy, and laparoscopic adrenalectomy
- Complex pancreatic and hepatobiliary procedures, including the Whipple procedure
- Breast surgery
- Minimally invasive and laparoscopic approaches for treating a wide range of conditions affecting the gallbladder, biliary tree, pancreas, esophagus, small intestine, and colon
