Welcome to the Division of Ophthalmology Retina Service web site at the Longwood Medical Eye Center at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
As a part of the Department of Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School, we deliver the highest quality care possible in the area of vitreoretinal
diseases and surgery, help mentor and educate the future leaders in ophthalmology and vitreoretinal surgery, and carry out important clinical research studies which are pushing forward the frontiers of knowledge in this area.
We are very proud of the retina service physicians, staff, clinical and operating room facilities, and hospital. This web site is designed to highlight who we are, the superb facilities and support staff that allow us to do what we do, and the exciting and supportive environment that allows us to educate younger generations of ophthalmologists and carry out important clinical research studies and collaborations. Our clinical work and research activities are supported by the Department of Surgery at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians, the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School, and research grants from the NIH, the Macula Society, and generous patients and benefactors.
