This year, Boston Magazine's "Top Doctors" list was taken from a survey conducted by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd, a healthcare researcher that also publishes "America's Top Doctors," a guide to the country's top 1 percent of medical specialists. Doctors do not and cannot pay to be selected. Castle Connolly's physician-led research team uses mail and phone surveys and electronic ballots to ask physicians and the medical leadership of leading hospitals to identify highly skilled and exceptional doctors.
