What to expect at the first visit
At your first visit, your physical therapist will discuss your goals, take a detailed history and perform an examination in order to gather information to design a treatment plan that meets your needs. After the examination, the therapist will review the plan with you and together you will discuss the best frequency and timing of your follow up visits.
At your first visit you may be asked to change into a gown for an examination or you may bring shorts/T-shirt and athletic shoes with you. Wearing loose fitting clothes will allow you to move more comfortably during your therapy session.
Most rehabilitative programs will require that you do some exercises on your own at home on a regular basis. Your therapist will review the exercises and you will be given a written home exercise program with pictures.
