Women’s Health Center
Dedicated to Meeting the Needs of Women
The Women's Health Center at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center provides specialized primary care and mental health services for women as well as medical consultation services that address a wide range of women's health issues.
Staffed by a well-coordinated team of experienced physicians, nurse practitioners and mental health specialists, the Women's Health Center is dedicated to meeting the needs of women at all stages of life. At the Women's Health Center, every woman is respected as an individual with unique medical, social, cultural and emotional concerns.
Centers of Excellence
Few resources exist that address particularly sensitive issues, such as women's sexual function, or that provide comprehensive guidance to special populations of women, such as women with disabilities and women cancer survivors. In response to these needs, the Women's Health Center has developed several Centers of Excellence.
Center for Women's Sexual Health
Center for Women's Sexual Health provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment for women with sexual problems in a discreet, caring and respectful environment.
Lifelong Learning and Community Outreach
The Women's Health Center is dedicated to lifelong learning for patients and health care providers in training.
A professional health educator works with patients who wish to learn more about their specific health needs. Both individual counseling and group programs are available that address a range of topics including preconception counseling, safer sex methods, bone health, cardiovascular risk factor education, weight management, and coping with chronic pain.
Group programs are conducted both on-site at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and off-site in partnership with community health affiliates. Other hands-on and in-classroom programs focus on educating health care providers in training. These programs address a variety of topics regarding
caring for women including sex and gender differences, patient-clinician communication, cultural competence, access to care, improving outcomes, and recognizing individuality.
