The mission of the Psychiatry Ambulatory Service is to provide excellent clinical care for patients receiving ongoing medical care at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. We actively collaborate with other BIDMC physicians to offer psychiatric consultation and recommendations for treatment. Included in the service is a General Psychiatry Practice, which includes Attending Psychiatrists and Licensed Social Workers as well as a Training Clinic, staffed by Harvard Longwood Psychiatric Residents. Patients, age 19 or older, are first seen for a psychiatric consultation. Following this evaluation, the patient may receive ongoing care within our clinic if clinically indicated. The predominant modes of treatment delivered include psychopharmacology and focal intermittent psychotherapy. Some patients require more comprehensive or intensive treatment and are referred outside our system to the appropriate clinical setting. Please call 617-667-4735 for consultation.
The Neuropsychology Service in Psychiatry provides neuropsychological assessments that are designed to identify neurocognitive strengths and relative weaknesses and to determine the most appropriate ways to succeed in school, work and daily living. A treatment plan is designed for the patient, psychotherapist, educators and the medical team. These assessments are available to all patients 16 years and above, a BIDMC provider is not necessary. Neuropsychology assessments can be scheduled by calling 667-4749.
